Number of music festivals
What this indicator asks
How many music festivals were held in the New York area in 2025?
69.0/ 100 · New York
We counted events that call themselves festivals and where music is the main focus. Each festival counts once, however many days it runs. Only large festivals are scored: those at outdoor sites, in arenas, stadiums or halls, or across several venues. Festivals held in a single club or venue are counted but not scored.
A higher number of festivals does not mean a healthier nightlife culture.
The New York area had 120 music festivals. 75 were large festivals and 54 of the large festivals running between June and September. Many are free or mostly free and held in parks, such as SummerStage, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! and the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival.
Manhattan held 27 large festivals and Brooklyn 17.
