How we measureDimensions overview
The Index measures nighttime culture across six dimensions. Each dimension asks one question of every city, from how creative work is supported to what the night does for the environment.
Each dimension is built from two to eight indicators, 30 in all, and is scored from 0 to 100. Go through the dimensions to see what they measure, why it matters and how each city scores.

Diversity & Representation
How does a city’s night culture represent its residents: across cultural background, economic status, gender, physical ability, sexuality?
Why it matters
A calendar full of cultural events says nothing about who is on the line-up, who can afford the ticket or who can get through the door. This dimension scores those things, because a city's nighttime culture should be made by, open to, and shared between all the people who live there.
