A total of 70% of survey respondents in Lagos agree that new and experimental events happen often. Whereas 15% disagree.
One participant said the EDM and underground scenes build things for themselves. Another said new artists making experimental music find it harder to break through, because audiences are “used to hearing a certain thing”.
Element House is a monthly house and electronic series, run by Spektrum Entertainment since 2015. It ran “A Decade of Dance” across November and December 2025 at Orange Island.
A participant said organisers still struggle to find event spaces. Even when a venue agrees to a deal, the participant said it hosts the event only “to get it out of the way”, and puts in little effort. The participant said more needs to be done.
