10.0/ 100 · Lagos

The Nigerian minimum wage is ₦70,000 a month, which is ₦403.85 an hour for a 40-hour week.

The median club entry price is ~₦10,000, which is 24.8 hours of work. Across nine large festivals with paid tickets in 2025, the median price of a paid day ticket was ~₦15,000, which is 37.1 hours of work. Drinks, travel, tables, VIP tickets and free events are not counted.

An expert said at one point, the value of the naira fell, drink prices rose, and the clubs moved to serve only the richest guests. The expert said the electronic scene now serves the people who can no longer go to the club:

“There was a time where a usual salary earner could go to the club and have a time, right? But now you actually can’t.”
