We assessed over 450 spaces in the region and identified 131 as dedicated music venues, where music is the main purpose. The other 320-plus spaces also host music alongside other uses, such as bars and arts spaces.
Amsterdam has 131 dedicated music venues, about 50 for every million people in the region. Around 51% are nightclubs, 19% are concert halls and live music venues, and 15% are bars.
A total of 96% of survey respondents in Amsterdam call nightclubs and live music venues important for the city’s nightlife.
