Late-night public transport coverage

São Paulo has over 410 bus routes with at least one service between 1am and 4am. Only buses run during these hours: the Metrô and CPTM trains have no service. There are 60 routes that run all night, with at least two services an hour, all of them part of the city’s night bus network.

The night bus network started in February 2015. It was one of the demands of the Manifesto da Noite of 2011 and 2012, written by the city’s night producers. One expert said the demand was driven with the people who work at night in mind: the bar staff, the waiters and the cleaners.

São Paulo has around 15 all-night services an hour for every million people.
