We found upwards of 920 cultural venues in New York with ticketed events. Opening hours are known for over 580 of the confirmed venues.
On at least one day of the week, 52% of confirmed venues stay open after 9pm and at least 30% stay open after 11pm. Additionally, 94% of comedy venues are open after 9pm, but only 9% of art venues.
Alcohol sales stop at 4am, and most parties end then. An expert suggested Nowadays got clearance from its community board to keep its parties running past 4am without selling alcohol. A participant said venues programme on fewer nights of the week than before the pandemic:
“I think gay and queer bars are the only venues that are doing programming every night of the week. That’s something that just died after the pandemic.”
