Non-music cultural events at night

We counted non-music cultural events that start or are open at 6pm or later, between 1 January 2025 and 31 October 2026. Half the score comes from the number of events. Half comes from how evenly they spread across eight kinds of cultural formats: art, theatre and opera, dance, film, comedy, literature, festivals and markets, and public and light art. The count covers the larger venues, companies and festivals listed online. Each unique event edition counts only once — repeat listings are excluded.

Over 120 unique cultural events at night: 40% are theatre and opera and 79% take place in the city of Amsterdam.

Museums and galleries mostly close before the evening. Art is present in nightlife through single events, such as the Amsterdam Light Festival, or Museumnacht when over 50 museums open on one night.
