Non-music cultural events at night
What this indicator asks
How many cultural events other than music take place at night in Seoul, and how varied are they?
74.0/ 100 · Seoul
We counted non-music cultural events that start or are open at 6pm or later, between 1 January 2025 and 31 October 2026. Half the score comes from the number of events. The rest comes from how evenly they spread across eight cultural formats: art, theatre and opera, dance, film, comedy, literature, festivals and markets, and public and light art. Each unique event edition counts only once — repeat listings are excluded.
There are over 190 unique cultural events at night. Of this number 32% are theatre, opera and musicals, and 26% are dance. And 79% take place in the Central and Southeast zones.
MMCA Seoul, the national museum of modern art, is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The palaces open at night in spring and autumn, for events such as the Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour. Yeondeunghoe, the Lotus Lantern Festival, holds a lantern parade through Jongno at night.
