Participants made over 60 entries, and only four were repeated. Musão was the one name three participants raised independently, at the junction of funk and grime. Participants described Brazilian and Latin American percussion entering electronic music, such as the bass music collective Deekapz and Track Swing, a collective from Guarulhos.
A participant said dancehall has run every week in different places in the periphery for 25 years and has never stopped. Another named Afrobeats, with artists such as WCF, Tória and Áila.
Underdivision, a hard techno collective, went from about 5,000 to over 30,000 followers in two years. A participant said the style, once commanded by straight men, now has an LGBTQIA+ audience and women in the scene.
A participant said it is easy for new artists to get noticed in São Paulo, but hard for them to stay relevant, because audiences always move on to the next new thing.
