Love Cabaret is a 320-capacity cabaret in República, in the former Love Story building. A participant said they welcome experimental, different or unknown artists on stage. It does not announce its programme in advance.
An expert said the people who hold power in the scene are mostly men:
“We are basically talking about men who hold [power], whether a space… or sometimes an artist, or actually the… guy who has the sponsorship money.”
Another expert said that when they started in culture activism, it was “only” old straight white men. Today there are many leaders from the periferias, and LGBTQIA+ and non-binary people.
A participant said trans and dissident artists play if they are “part of a clique”, or they have to make their own spaces. An expert proposed hiring people of all kinds onto the team, not only onto the line-up.
