What share of the artists on São Paulo’s event line-ups are female and gender-diverse?

Over 2,500 artists (820 with known genders) on over 5,200 São Paulo event line-ups, for events dated between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026.
Female and gender-diverse artists are 30.6% of artists.
An expert said women on line-ups were debated for about 12 years, and that in the alternative scene today “essa discussão é uma discussão que nem existe mais” (“that discussion no longer even exists”). In the mainstream scene, the expert said they see practically the opposite: line-ups are still far less diverse.
WME, the Women’s Music Event, was founded in 2016. It runs the IGUAL seal, for organisations with at least 50% women in their workforce. It trains technicians, security and bar staff, so that they know how to speak to a trans artist, for example.
A participant said spaces are “not yet ready” to understand that booking a gender-dissident community is not the same as guaranteeing its safety and comfort inside. Participants proposed training technicians, bar staff and security, not only programmers.
