What share of the artists on Lagos’s event line-ups are female and gender-diverse?

Over 450 artists (420 of them with known genders) on more than 230 Lagos event line-ups, for events dated between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026.
Female artists are 20.8% of artists. No non-binary artists were found. Female artists are booked more often: on average 3.9 events each, against 2.5 for a male artist.
A participant said OBG is a training ground where professional DJs teach emerging DJs, and that every edition has had at least one or two female DJs. HOMECOMING, a festival held over Easter weekend, runs a free DJ workshop for women only, with the collectives Floss Parties, Femme Africa and Dencity.
A participant said the music scene is very male dominated. Beyond the numbers issue, there is an absence of intentionality when line-ups are made. The participant proposed making female representation a priority decision when a line-up is built.
