Sustainability & Environment · Indicator 1
Festivals with sustainability commitments
What this indicator asks
How many of the largest nighttime culture events in Lagos State publish a specific environmental commitment, and do they ask their audience to take part?
14.0/ 100 · Lagos
We looked at three elements: the share of events that publish a commitment, how many environmental areas they cover, and whether they ask the audience to act.
One of the six largest events publishes a commitment: Artistic Pulse Festival, billed as Africa’s first sustainable recycling festival. In December 2025, Coca-Cola Nigeria and its recycling partner RecyclePoints, placed collection stations across the site for all five days, so that all plastic packaging waste was collected for recycling.
Detty December Fest, Flytime Fest, Felabration, Rhythm Unplugged and the Lagos Fanti Carnival publish no environmental measures. Felabration’s 25th edition opened with a debate on how art, governance and sustainability can work together.
