Public support for environmental sustainability
What this indicator asks
Does Seoul’s environmental policy name nightlife as a target, and can venues and events get practical help to become more sustainable?
40.0/ 100 · Seoul
We looked at five areas: whether nightlife is named as a target; whether practical help exists; whether the sector uses it; the general environmental policy the sector falls under; and recent steps in the right direction.
The city supplies reusable containers to large events, mostly its own. It reports that this replaced about 4.15 million single-use items at 601 events over two years. A national working group to write carbon-neutral guidelines for concerts was launched in September 2026, and plans to finish its work by February 2027.
No green support for clubs or live venues was found. The city’s only help is for buildings of every kind. Its Building Retrofit Project lends money at 0.8% for insulation, lighting, heating and renewables in commercial buildings at least 15 years old.
